提示语的英语翻译

在中国的公共场所，我们随处都可以看到“禁止入内”、“禁止踏草坪”以及“违者罚款”等字眼。对大多数国人而言，这些司空见惯的字眼似乎并无不妥。 但随着国门的打开，对外经济、文化的交流和发展以及人口素质的整体提高，让国外友人看见这些警示牌，可能会产生异议。一方面似乎显出中国国民素质不高，连 这些事情都需要下令禁止，另一方面也会破坏公共场所应有的宽松随意之人文气氛。

“禁止”翻译成英语就是“Don't”，在英文 中，“Don't”口气比较生硬，缺乏委婉之意。如“Don't pick the flowers”（禁止摘花），“Don't throw something out of the train”（禁止往车窗外扔东西），“Don't tread on the lawn”（禁止践踏草坪），“Don't make noise”（禁止喧哗）等，这些句子无论是在语法上还是意思上都非常正确，但并不建议大家这么翻译。因为“Don't”使这些句子语气显得太重，易使人 产生距离感。

公共场合应该营造的是一种快乐随意的气氛，让大家身心愉快。一定程度的善意提醒是必要的，但是应该尽力避免生硬。 而且英语是一种比较强调委婉的语言，一般不会在公园这样的地方使用Don't这样生硬的词。如“禁止摘花”可译做“Keep away from the flowers , please .”或者“Take care of the flowers, please.”同样表达一个意思，但这两句让人看了很舒服，一种爱花的心情油然“牌”上，与竖牌人的初衷一致。尤其“take care of”短语本身带有拟人色彩，将花看成是一个baby(孩子),提醒人们像爱护和关心baby一样去爱护花木。如此，树立这个牌子的目的便达到了。再比 如，“Don't make noise”（禁止喧哗）这种牌子也经常看到，我们完全可以将它译为“Quiet , please.”既简练，又标准。因此公共场合不用“Don't”照样能够达到如期的效果。

此外有些公共场所的提示语在英语中 往往有其固定的用法，如“No spitting”（禁止吐痰），“No smoking”（禁止吸烟）等等，需要提醒一点的是，No与Don't不一样，前者更多地被用在中性语境中。我们见到“不许动”，脑海中立即闪现 “Don't move”, 而事实上外国警察所说的却是“Freeze”，或者“Hold it”。见到“动我就打死你”自然想到“If you move, I'll shoot you.”，而外国警察常说的却是“Move and you are dead, man.”所以，我们应该掌握外国人在类似情况下的表达习惯，而不是按照自己的思维和表达方式进行翻译，虽然有时词可达意，但毕竟不够地道。

       由于不同语言文字之间的对应情况各有差别，有的可以完全对应，有的只能部分对应。因此，翻译时需要进行一些特殊处理，如使用完全对译和部分对译相结合的方法，进行艺术加工等，现以英汉对译为例，分别举例简述如下：

      一 部分对译

        遇到多义词时，要根据它在上下文的意思去确定它的哪一种词义同汉语（中文）相对应，或者接近之后，才能决定取舍，例如：

         a. We are today forwarding you our new test key under separate cover. （信封、封套） 

         b. Who has torn the cover of my book? （封面）

        碰到一词多义的情况时，一定要根据上下文去找到对应或接近的词，切忌望文生义。银行信贷业务中常说发放贷款，英语的发放二字可用make、issue、 launch等，如发放贷款可译作to launch a loan。但这里的launch一词用在别处意思就不同了。如to launch a movement, campaign, drive搞运动、活动；to launch a training program, class, course举办培训班，to launch a satellite发射卫星。

      二 完全对译

        凡专有名词、专业术语等一般都采用此种方法对译，不涉及到一词多义的问题，所以比较好处理，例如：

         a. European Economic Community(EEC)欧洲经济共同体（欧共体）

         b. National Bank of Pakistan 巴基斯坦国民银行

      三 艺术加工

        翻译是一种再创造的工作，这已成为人们的共识，简单对译的情况很少，即使是完全在字义上的对译，也会发生语序的变化，如：英语说"go to see the doctor"（直译为去看医生），而汉语却习惯说"去看（瞧）病"。反之，汉语说"恢复疲劳"（最好说"解除疲劳"），英语却习惯说"relax one's mind or relax oneself"（让大脑放松），绝对不能按字面意思对译成"resume fatigue"（又疲劳了），初学英语者常犯类似的错误。又如：外国直接投资，常译成"direct foreign investment"（直接的外国投资），也有译作"foreign direct investment"的。笔者认为后者较好，因为强调投资方式的修饰语"直接"一词紧靠其前，符合英语习惯。

        汉语总是把较重要的修饰词放在所有修饰词的前面，如：他是一位杰出的受人爱戴的优秀教师。这里强调的是他作出了杰出贡献，是优秀者当中的尖子。可是，英语 中还有一个习惯，如果有几个形容词同时修饰一个名词，形容词的顺序是由短到长，最长的紧靠名词的前面，特别是在演讲稿中，读起来铿锵有力，富于乐感，更能 打动听众。因此，上面这句话应翻译成：He is a good, beloved and outstanding teacher.

学习任何语言都需要大量阅读。学习英语也需要大量阅读。英语学得好的人，一般说来，都读过相当数量的书；反之，也只有读得比较多的人，才能真正学好英 语。这个道理虽然简单，但不少学习英语的人却未必明白。时下，很多人都热衷于做题目，以为这是学习英语的正确途径。结果做的练习册一本又一本，试题集一套 又一套，做得头昏眼花，兴趣全无，英语水平却并没有实质性提高。

    学习英语的确要做适当练习。但我认为，归根结底，好的英语是“读”出来的，不是做练习“做”出来的。“读”出来的英语是地道的、自然的，因为使用者依持的是“语感”；“做”出来的英语往往流于生硬，因为使用者是依赖“语法规则”硬“做”的。

    一谈到阅读，人们便不由自主地想到“苦读”。如果把这两个字理解成读书需要花功夫，倒也有理。但如果认为阅读一定是很苦的，很少有欢乐，那就大错特错了。 然而，目前的很多英语学习者都视英语阅读为苦事，常常是不得已而为之。教师让学生读点英语材料，就像给孩童吃中药，需要捏着鼻子硬灌下去。自然效果也不会 好。

    阅读英语应当轻松愉快，也可以轻松愉快。要做到这一点，阅读材料的选择是首要的。也就是说，要选择生动、有趣、富有吸引力而又能启发心智的材料（或书 籍）。这类书具有以下几个共同特点：一、可读性很强，让人立即产生阅读的欲望，一旦上手，就放不下来了，不会感到学英语是沉重的负担了。二、容易读，不大 会产生阅读障碍。三、有助于扩大知识面，提高文化素养。

    至于阅读的方法，我主张一口气读下去，即便有个别单词挡道，只要不影响整体内容的理解，就不必停下来查词典，更没有必要见到好句子停下来就抄。因为那样会 打断思路，影响阅读速度，甚至扼杀阅读的兴趣。不要以为读完一本书没有记下某个词语或某个句子就是一无所得。阅读的主要目的在于语言吸收上的“潜移默化 ”，在于获得语感。阅读需要“量”，没有大量的语言“输入”，是难以学好英语的。而我们国内的英语学习者恰恰语言输入量太少，当然输出量就更少。结果往往事倍功半。

There is a temple at the foot of Nanshan，and an ancient banyan is in front of it.

One morning,a young monk gets up to clean up the courtyard and sees the fallen leaves from the ancient banyan are everywhere,he can't help worrying and look at the tree to sigh.

For his sorrow is on the toppest,he throws down the broom and rushes to his master's room ,then he knocks on the door to plea for interview.

His master hears it and opens the door,when he sees the disciple's worried look,he thinks something takes place,so he hurries to ask him:" My disciple, what does you worry about so much in the early morning? "

The young disciple is full of doubt and tells him:"Master, you persuades us to be diligent to cultivate our moral character and grasp the truth day and night,but, even I learn them well ,it is hard to avoid to die.Till that time,so-called me, so-called Dao, aren't they just like the defoliation in autumn or the deadwood in winter? and they will be buried by a heap of loess?"

After hearing it ,the old monk points at the ancient banyan and says to the young monk:" My disciple ,you don't need to worry about this.In fact, the defoliation in autumn and the deadwood in winter will climb back to the trees silently and become the flowers in spring and grow up into the leaves in summer at the time of autumnal winds is blowing strongliest and the snow falls down most heavily."

"Why don't I see it?"

"It is the reason that there isn't any view in your heart, so you can't see the bloom ."

Transforming Obstacles into Benefits

    A group of frogs was traveling through the woods and two of them fell into a deep pit. Immediately, all the other frogs in the group gathered around the pit and watched as the imprisoned frogs tried to jump out. The frogs on top could see that the pit was very deep and it looked as if there was no way out, so they started yelling at the two frogs in the pit to give up. "The pit is too deep. You're as good as dead," the chorus of frogs said. When the trapped frogs kept trying, the crowd yelled louder, "Give up. You're as good as dead." After a while, one of the exhausted frogs took heed to what the others were saying, and fell down and died.

    But amazingly, the second frog kept jumping as hard as she could despite the negative remarks of those that kept yelling at her to accept the inevitable and just die. Finally, with one valiant leap, she made it out of the pit!

    This amazing result occurred because the second frog was deaf and unable to hear what the others had been saying. She thought they had been cheering her on the entire time they were yelling! What she had mistakenly perceived as encouragement inspired her to try harder and succeed against all odds. And that made all the difference!

    With a positive mindset, and being deaf to others' opinions, the second frog made use of such negativity to overcome obstacles and reach her goals by using it as encouragement, instead of being influenced by others like the first frog, who failed to develop her potential to strive for survival. Thus, when we surmount others' criticism, ridicule or cynical comments, we can do anything we set our minds to, just as the second frog did. But, if we are not deaf like this frog, who could not be influenced by others due to a physical condition, we need the  Wisdom to guide us to the proper way, so as not to be blindly guided by worldly opinion.

　　一群在旅途中的青蛙，行经一处树林时，其中两只不慎掉进了一个深坑里。其它的青蛙立即围拢过来，看着这两只受困的青蛙在努力地跳出来。在上面的青蛙看 得出来这个坑非常的深，而且似乎没有任何出口，因此，它们开始劝坑里的两只青蛙不要白费力气了，它们齐声叫着：「这个坑太深了，你们死定了！」当受困的青 蛙不断地想跳出来时，其它的青蛙却叫得更大声：「算了吧！你们是死定了！」过了一会儿，这两只精疲力竭的青蛙其中一只听到其它青蛙所说的话，它就倒下来死 了。

    Once upon a time a teacher and his student lay down under the big tree near the big grass area. Then suddenly the student asked the teacher.

     斩除不良品，原本就是管理工作的一部分，经历的越多，经验越能得到积累；管理能力越能得到提升。

 

不良品是指：不能满足品质规定的产品。

不良品是万严之首。管理的历史可以说就是一部与不良品作斗争的历史，只要有生产活动存在，就有不良品的存在。不良品是测试管理人员合不合格的最好“考题”之一，谁也躲不开。但是，面对同样一种不良，却有四种不同的态度：

1．   自我放弃型。

这种人一旦遇上不良品，第一句话就是“算了吧！做不到！不可能！”对不良品惟恐避之而不及，对不良品的解决方法想都不想，一把将不良品推开老远。

其实质是自信不足，害怕不良品，怕承担风险、责任。让这种人去处理不良品，只会越处理越多，小则办坏一件事，大则拖垮一个部门。

２．    归咎他责型。

这种人姓“赖”，什么事都敢推开，所有的不良品全都不关自己的事，推脱理由多得让人难以置信。要么是自己从来没学过；要么是前辈没教好；要么同事“坑”了自己……总能找出一个冠冕堂皇的理由。

其实质是能力不足，不愿承担自己的责任。让这种人解决不良品，不良品还没动一根“毛”，内部责任追究的“战火”早已熊熊燃起，结果只会导致各部门内战不休，分散了团体的力量，事情越办越乱。

３．    孤芳自赏型。

这种人满足于维持现有的品质水平，只要不是大的不良，一点都不着急，不愿改善现状，总以为“神仙也不过如此”。

其实质是故步自封，不求上进，让这种人解决不良品，慢性、数量少的不良品，永远都解决不了。

４．    开拓解决型。

这种人从不拒绝任何不良品的挑战，一旦发生不良品，不等不靠，想方设法解决不良，看到现有成绩也看到不足，从不停止改善的脚步，也只有这种人才真正掌握对付不良品的实战能力。

开拓进取的态度是作为优秀的管理人员必备的条件之一。

实战时注意事项：

１．确认不良品发生的现象和程度。

绝不可将来自下面的报告，原封不动地转手向上“倒卖”，让上一级管理人员来替你确认，要自己动手、动眼、动脑，到现场搞清楚以下项目：

①是什么样的不良？有什么现象？

②发生率多少？在哪发生的？在哪些机种上发生？

③什么时间发生的？

２．联络相关部门，制定紧急对策

突 发性的不良，能够自己处理的立即处理，处理不了的，要懂得借助其他部门的力量来解决。换言之，要懂得叫“救命”，叫得越大声、追得越急，得到的帮助也就越 多。不要厌恶跑腿求人，这本来也是工作的一部分。许多远离现场的部分，很难体会得到现场的苦衷，你不猛追他们，就别指望能获得帮助。

同一种不良现象，原因却可以多样的，有的可以借助以往的经验，一眼看穿，有的要依靠解析手段来找出原因，解析时，一般要遵循以下步骤：

第一步：再现不良现象。

尽可能从多方面观察不良现象，如有数据则记录下来。

第二步：调查原因。

①模拟法。使用相同组合的生产要素，确认能否导致同一不良现象。

②配对法。将生产要素按一定的条件进行组合，确认哪种组合出现相同不良。

③排除法。将生产要素逐个进行替换，当替换到不良消失时，多半是该生产要素引发的不良。

④对比法。将良品与不良品进行比较，找出其中差别之处，这种差别很可能就是造成不良的原因。

以上这些方法只不过是将导致不良的生产要素找出，为对策铺垫了基础，但这还不够 ，还要给予反证才行，尤其在理论计算时，要注意以下事项：

①尽可能使用高精度的测试仪器测取数据。

②审图、读取数据时不偏不倚，不人为地改动数据。

③运算公式、方程式时，再三确认有无代入错误。

当不良原因查明之后，便要进行对策，不良对策不是简单地下一道加工、选别、修理的指示，而是要制定整体的挽救方法、日程、担当者。

①以材料为线索，展开对策：

A.         单品材料怎么处理？

B.         半成品怎么处理？

C.        成品怎么处理？

D.        已销售到市场的怎么处理？

以上项目，数量有多少？什么时候开始处理？谁来负责担当？在哪处理？等等都要确定下来。

②以时间为线索进行对策。

A.         新设定的4M要素什么时候开始实施？

B.         不良品什么时候处理完毕？

C.        良品什么时候能出货？

以上项目，数量有多少？什么时候开始处理？谁来负责担当？在哪处理？等等都要确定下来。

③以作业方法为线索，展开对策。

A.         工序内用什么新的作业方法？

B.         QC增添什么新的检查方法？

C.        QA更改什么规格？

以上项目，数量有多少？什么时候开始处理？谁来负责担当？在哪处理？所有这些都要确定下来。

当发生大量不良品时，甚至要考虑暂停生产，优先处理不良品。如果不良品的处理费用，远远超过重新制造一台新品的话，那不妨考虑将不良品废弃处理还更好些。

不良品的识别管理也是相当重要的一个项目，一不小心就会产生二次不良，请参阅《识别做不好，东西真难找》一章。

确认对策效果，防止二次再发。

防止二次再发与不良品对策同等重要。不要以为对策后就万事大吉，天下太平。有的不良品仅靠一次对策还不能绝迹，如果你不再跟进的话，下次再发，挨老板骂的可能只有你一个人了！

现场中大大小小的不良品有许多，是不是所有的不良品都要立即进行对策呢？不是的，只要先抓住占不良率80%的头几位就不错了，而其他小的不良品，可任其“自生自灭”。

总之，在一定意义上说，管理能力就是在解决不良品的过程中得以提升的，管理能力的高低与否，其判定标准之一，就在于不良品是否再出现。
